Ravishing Rectangles

Ravishing Rectangles

Now for our final body type…the ravishing rectangle! This body type is athletic looking a little boyish in your frame, and are mostly just all straight. The rectangle can vary however; you could be a rectangle with some apple, pear or hourglass qualities. This body type is usually the easiest to dress because lucky for you it looks great in almost anything!
Since you have a pretty flat body type with not a lot of curves the key here is to create them and give the illusion that you have a shape. Wearing clothes that are tailored, and are cinched in at the waist but full on top and bottom is a great way to add volume and shape.  Tops with high necks and a ruffle or rouch will give you a fuller looking bust and add curves. If you want a little shape on your bottom half wear tighter fitting skirts or pants that hug to your body. Now lucky for you there aren’t really any don’ts for your shape accept big baggy shapeless clothes, you are trying to create shape not hide it.
The look I created for you is a black ruffle top with the form fitting fuchsia pencil skirt. The top will add volume to your top half and bust, while the pencil skirt will hug your body and show the figure you have, while also creating a figure for you. The shoes are a great little heel in black and a patent leather clutch to compliment the shirt. The pink accessories play off the skirt and each other without being too crazy. This outfit will look ravishing on any of you rectangles out there and is super easy to recreate. I hope you enjoy!!

Let it Snow!

Let it Snow!

Well it has happened…the first snow! So instead of being miserable I decided to make a look that will keep you warm and looking fabulous! In case you haven’t heard ponchos are coming back in and becoming a big deal in the fashion world again. Some of you may hate this trend but I for one love it! I myself have a poncho and love it! This poncho is worn with a belt, but if you wear a belt be careful that it doesn’t poof out (BIG NO) but a skinny belt like this one shouldn’t do that. I paired the poncho with some skinny jeans and of course the wonderful riding boots that go perfectly! For accessories, a great black bag a perfect pair of sparkly studs, a silver scarf, and a watch. The watch these days is more for accessorizing, than for function, and this watch is exactly that a perfect accessory. This look is so easy to wear and is super warm!

Just a warning, if you are short try the poncho with flats not boots this will cut you off in all the wrong places! So Ladies stay warm and enjoy!

Adorable Apples

Adorable Apples
The next body type I’m focusing on is the adorable apple shape. This body type is pretty common among us women so I’m going to give you some tips that will help you look great. Being an apple shape means you carry your weight mostly in your tummy area but are well proportioned. The height of the apple shape varies from average to petite women. Some quick do’s and don’t for your shape are; do not wear plain things or super tight clothing, it will bring the attention to the wrong areas. Always try and trick the eye and wear bold patterns and textures to camouflage the areas you want to hide, but be careful some may add too much emphasis. Woven tops are great instead of jersey knit, because jersey knit tends to cling everywhere, and a woven will hug the right places. The most important tip is to feel comfortable and have confidence; with these two things you will always look great because you feel great! So all of that said here is a look I think all you adorable apples will look great in! I picked this adorable a line black dress with a yellow belt under the bust line. The dress will flare out at exactly the right place and the square neckline will also add a little something. For the shoes I kept it simple with a cute little black round toe shoe. I wanted to add something to compliment the yellow belt so I picked this bag with this great funky design to be an eye-catching piece. As for jewelry go simple, studs and some bangles the attention should be the belt and the bag not the jewelry. This adorable look for you apples could be worn to the office, a night on the town, or a wedding it is full of possibilities! Let me know what you this look and how I can help you more!

Bella

Bella
Being that the newest movie from the Twilight Saga came out on Friday I was given the idea to do a look for each character. I haven't decided how many characters I will do but today I did a Bella Swan look. This is super plain but still cute and Bella-esk. Bella dresses very simply but this look is still cute and fashionable. A plaid button down and skinny jeans with a classic pair of gray Chucks. Bella doesn't usually accessorize so to add a little something I picked this great gray jacket. I think this is a really simple look to recreate if you want a comfortable/fashionable lazy day or school day look. Let me know what you all think of it.

Mother of the Groom

I picked this pantsuit because it is pretty and elegant but not too fancy. It would be more comfortable then a dress but it is still great for a Mother of the Groom outfit.

I picked this one just in case they only want you in a dress. I thought it was really pretty but not too frilly for you. I think it would be really simple to find at a store like Macy’s, Younkers or JcPenny.  It would also be really flattering and you would look great in it!

I love this look I think you would look great in a short tea length dress! This collar would also bring the attention upward giving you a longer, taller look. This is also something you could get at Macy’s, Younkers, or JcPenny. It was really hard for me to find something for you, since I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in a dress but I think you would look great in any of these. Let me know what you think or if you need anymore help. Once you pick a dress let me know if you need help styling it with shoes and accessories!

Just Another Day

Everyday

So I haven’t been giving you guys enough attention so today’s blog is just for you! I decided I was going to do a casual everyday look that is great for the fall weather. Now clearly this is not a hunting outfit, nor is it a work outfit, it is more of a look good be comfortable outfit. This is a simple orange and gray Henley t-shirt with a pair of medium wash boot cut jeans. I picked the brown shoes because of the orange, and I think with the jeans they would look great. The watch is just a personal little touch I thought would look good when the jacket is off. Now the jacket is basically just there to keep you warm but it looks great so if you don’t take it off it looks good on top of the Henley. Now I know this look may not be for some of you, but I’m basically going off of clothes I like for guys, and clothes I think any guy can wear. So if you think this isn’t an easily wearable look just let me know and I’ll try to find something else. I’m slowly but surely getting more ideas for you guys out there, but I find you much harder to dress then all the women. =] Let me know if you like it!

THe Hourglass

THe Hourglass

The hourglass figure is commonly referred to as the “ideal” body type, this figure is usually very well proportioned and balanced. Your shoulders and hips are about the same width with a well-defined waist. Some great tips for dressing this figure are to always try and emphasize your curvy figure and never add bulk. You can wear anything from fitted to loose and flowing styles with a straight or flared silhouette. Some things you want to stay away from are thick bulky sweaters, baggy clothes, and high necklines and fitted pants; these will emphasize the wrong areas. I chose this form fitting dress, it hugs your body perfectly making you look amazing. To add length to your legs wear a pointed shoe, I chose this black shoe with red accent bow for a little color. The bag is really up to you, but since I had the red accent I picked a red bag to compliment the red bow. This long necklace draws the eye downward and the knot in the middle draws attention to your center, which is usually the part you want to accent most. For the rest of the jewelry I just kept it simple with bangles that matched the necklace, and simple post earrings, and a great ring. The hourglass figure is probably the easiest shape to dress, so if you aren’t “living it up” with your figure and showing it off you should start! Let me know how you like it!

The Best and The Worst!

Posted by Picasa
So as you may know last night the 45th Annual CMA awards were on, and in honor of this I decided to pick my best and worst dressed celebs. Let us start with the worst dressed, if you haven’t noticed Natasha Bedingfields dress was very octopus like. I just do not understand who thought this was a good idea, the top of the dress is wonderful classy even, I’m just not sure what happened at the bottom? I mean this could have had a lot of potential, but it was just a flop. There really is nothing that could save this dress. Now onto the best dressed, the beautiful and classy Carrie Underwood. Carrie was a host and had many wardrobe changes, but my favorite was her red carpet look. This dress is absolutely gorgeous and she looks amazing as usual. I love the gold sequins and the simple accessories and makeup, she is simply styled perfectly. So there you have it the best and the worst of the 2011 CMAs. Let me know if you noticed any other good or bad looks.

Red Carpet!

Red Carpet!

Cameras flashing, the red carpet is rolled out, and all eyes are on you! It’s what every girl has dreamt of.  Even though most of us will never have the opportunity to experience this, we still love the idea of it. I know this blog isn’t as helpful as others but since there is an awards show on tonight I decided tonight was the night to show this look. I found this dress a few weeks ago and fell in love with it! I will never have an excuse to wear it nor will I have the money for it, but nonetheless it’s gorgeous! A one shouldered black and gold silk organza chiffon dress, with a flower detail on the shoulder. This dress says a lot without adding a lot of bold accessories, so I chose a gold cuff bracelet, a gold flower ring to compliment the shoulder detail, and a simple black clutch. As for the shoes I had black at first but I decided to go with the gold so that they didn’t just fade into the dress. So someday when we are all celebrities you will have some idea of how to be glamorous on the red carpet!

Pears Please =)

Pears Please =)
Today’s blog is for you beautiful pear shapes out there. I know it can be hard to figure out how to dress your shape at times and I’m here to help. The pear shape should always stay away from dresses that are tight at the hips. This is a common mistake; tight around the hips literally accentuates this area, making the hips seem bigger than they really are. A great dress style for this body type is A-Line or Straight styles because they flow out or straight down, taking the attention off the hips. A dress that many women are scared of is the wrap dress, but this is an awesome dress for the pear shape. The wrap dress is tighter up top and fitted then flares at the cinched in waistline. Another detail to pay attention to is the neckline; pear shapes look great with a v-neckline. As you can see I created a look with all of these in one look. This great red wrap dress cinches in at the waist, has a v-neck, and is loose and flows at the hip. When you add a big chunky necklace to that v-neck it brings the attention of the eye upward, with the chunky necklace stick with simple earrings. A great bangle and watch for the rest of your accessories adds the perfect touch. Pear shapes want to go for shoes that don’t cut you off, so avoid ankle straps or ankle boots. Go for a sling back, peep toe, pump, or tall boot; these styles will add height to you. This is a beautiful look that can be for a day at work or night on the town to accentuate your beautiful pear shape. Let me know what you all think!

Always Listen to Your Teacher!

DK

Yet again I was asked to create a look for a former teacher, this time for my favorite male teacher! He is a taller man with broad shoulders and asked me to create a look that would take the attention off of his shoulders. I decided to go with a tailored look; you’re probably thinking “NO!” but don’t worry. Tailored doesn’t have to mean tight, just trust me here. I picked a gray dress shirt, a skinny black tie, a black sweater vest, and black flat front pants. The color of the shirt draws the attention away from your shoulders as well as the skinny tie and vest, the key here is “tricking the eye”. As for accessories I would wear a black belt with silver buckle (I couldn’t find one I liked), black loafers, and a great silver watch. I think this will do the trick, let me know what you think.

Time for School!

Time for School!

This look is for a teacher who requested an outfit she could look great in but not boring or like a student. There are a lot of ways you can do that; a store that I find has some great professional clothes that are really professional and stylish is New York & Co. so give them a shot. For a look that is classic teacher and still very fashionable I picked a simple black pencil skirt with a camel colored belt at the waist.  I really like the idea of a loose fitting shirt tucked into this skirt so, I picked a sheer green top with a simple black cami underneath. For accessories keep it simple, a simple long gold necklace, gold earrings, and a bangle bracelet. The shoes you can go with flats a boot or a pump, I chose the pump in this case. The bag here compliments the belt in color and is just adorable! I think this is a perfect combination of professional and fashionable let me know what you think.

This ones for the guys!

This ones for the guys!

So I don’t know about other women but I personally love it when a guy knows how to dress. I think a man’s clothes are one very important feature (in my world anyways). I find a lot of guys don’t care what they look like which alright I get it, but most guys want to get a girl and well I think clothes can sometimes be a really easy way to impress a girl without a lot of effort. So I decided I would give menswear looks a try, guys let me know what you think and if no guys are reading this, girls show your guys and tell me what they think. I went for a casual everyday look here, a cardigan/hoodie with boot cut dark wash jeans, and some sneakers. The black and charcoal is easy to put with basically any color so I paired it with just a red cotton tee. I thought it needed a little accessorizing so I picked some plain black canvas sneakers, a great pair of aviators, and a awesome silver watch with reddish orange accents. So guys there you have it a outfit that is casual but looks great in my mind haha let me know what you think!

Lazy Day

Lazy Day

We all have those days where you just feel like staying in and being lazy in your PJs all day long, but as much as you want to you can’t. Well some people take the being lazy in your PJs a little too far and go out still wearing their PJs! I think you should want to look your best all the time and there is a solution to being lazy and comfy and still looking great, this look is a great example. For my lazy day look I picked a pair of skinny ripped jeans, a big comfy boyfriend sweater, and boots. To add some color I picked this great blue suede satchel, and blue scarf, add some gold jewelry a little shimmery eye shadow and there you go a great comfy lazy day look!

Hello =]

Alright I decided to finally listen to my big sissy pie and write a fashion blog(She's been on my case for months about it!) but anyways I'm new at this so sorry if I do something wrong or just not the way it should be done. I'm going to try and do a weekly "look" by creating it myself then commenting and telling you how to recreate it. PLEASE if you ever have styling questions or a "look" you would like me to throw together let me know! I'm really excited so here it goes wish me luck!

The Little Black Dress

The Little Black Dress

So I've decided to do a classic look for my first go at this. I picked the LBD (Little Black Dress). This is just one variation but there are endless possibilities when it comes to this timeless classic! I picked a short-sleeve flare dress that is fitted at the waist. I paired it with a great pair of patent leather pumps. The accessories are simple but chic; I chose a bold gold ring, a great strand of pearls with gold chains, little rhinestone drop earrings also gold, and some chunky gold bangles. To spice up this look I picked a cheetah print belt to wear around the waist. Now sometimes a LBD can be simple but I decided we needed a pop of color. When using color you don’t want to have too much, maybe just one accessory or two at the max.  Since I also have the cheetah belt I decided to go with the bold red flap satchel, this gives the outfit the perfect pop of color without being crazy. As for hair and makeup go simple and chic maybe just a sleek pony and natural makeup with a red lip. The LBD has so many variations this is just one take on it. Let me know what you think! The Little Black Dress by stephanie0815 featuring gold plated jewelry
